Epherda is an ancient Chinese medicinal root known as Ma Huang.
Epherda Warnings ...
There are isolated reports that ephedra can cause heart palpitations
and strokes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), claim
that there is no conclusive evidence that ephedra is dangerous.
As of October 2002, Over 1,000 voluntarily submitted Adverse Event
Reports (AERs) associated with dietary supplements containing ephedrine
alkaloids have been received by the FDA. A number of these Adverse
Event Reports have described events that have resulted in death
or serious problems such as cardiac arrhythmias, myocardial infarctions,
seizures and strokes.
Epherda Banned ...
Ephedra was recently banned as a diet product in Canada. It is banned
by the International Olympic Committee, USA National Football League
and USA National Collegiate Athletic Association. Ephedra based
diet supplements are banned at all U.S. Army base stores worldwide.
USA States Take Action Against Epherda ...
In 2003, California's ephedra heart-safety labeling law goes into
effect. Kansas, Nebraska and New York are considering similar laws.
Attorneys in some states are filing lawsuits against ephedra manufacturers
with the argument that the diet products posed health risks to their
clients.
